APPLIANCES: Whirlpool's winner

The Global Procurement Organization at Whirlpool has recognized
41 U.S. suppliers for their excellence in quality, delivery, productivity,
and innovation over the past year. It judged its 700 suppliers primarily
against three criteria: quality of goods, productivity, and material
management.
"Whirlpool's supply base deserves part of
the credit for the success we have achieved the last few years in
transforming our company into an innovative industry leader that
places the customer front and center of our operations globally,"
says Jeff Fettig, president and chief operating officer of the global
appliance giant based in Benton Harbor, Mich.
The companies honored are Arkansas General Industries,
motors and pumps; BSI-Mansfield, aluminum and steel components;
Davlyn Manufacturing, seals, insulators, shims and glass; E.G.O.
North America, electrical controls and electrical elements; Indiana
Tube, steel components; Mansfield Industries, steel components;
Valspar, paint; White Electronic Designs, electrical controls; Air
Products & Chemicals, foam ingredients; American Wire Tech,
electrical controls; ATC Frost Magnetics, electrical elements; Atlantis
Plastics, major and minor plastic molded components.
Also, Catalytic Combustion, steel components;

carton material; DNA Group, electrical components; Emerson Appliance
